A Couple Of Clues That You’re Gaining Traction on Medium
Watch out for these tell-tale signs that you’re about to go big…
I see all kinds of doom and gloom stories about this platform pop up on my feed.
The story is always the same:
“I’m not doing as well as I want to… it must be the platform’s fault — I’m leaving.”
Let’s just analyze that theory. If it is the platform’s fault, then it must also have been the platform’s fault when you were doing well, right?
And given how much the all-powerful algorithm gets tinkered with… don’t you think there’s a chance you might start doing well again if you don’t leave and just keep going instead?
Or, look at it the other way.
Are you sure your level hasn’t dropped? Is the quality as good as ever? What about the quantity?
There’s a word that is absolutely crucial to success on this platform:
Consistency.
It’s not something I can claim to be particularly good at. I write in fits and starts and — because this is a hobby for me, not a full-time job — I wait until I truly have something to say.
