One of the reasons I started the Nant Fawr Brews podcast was to share my own passion for beer. I’ve become very good at boring my mates about the latest brew I have ongoing, or a new bit of equipment I’ve got hold of.

They’re interested up to a point, but they’re far more interested in the free beer that appears at the end of the process.

And I get that, I really do.

That used to be my approach to brewery tours, if I’m honest. I’d be vaguely interested at walking around the building, peering into the odd stainless steel vessel here and there…

…but the best bit was the sampling bar at the end.

That’s all changed now. Because I understand the brewing process myself having done it many times, I now approach a brewery tour with a completely different mindset.

I’m fascinated. I can see the link between what they are doing and what I do. I can learn things, observe differences and appreciate what is going on at a far deeper level.

And then, we’re back to the point where I want to share all this intriguing information with others.
