Are You Asking For Help Or Something Else?
Let’s get this right…
Help is perhaps the most powerful force in the world. It can rescue us. It can set us on the right path, it can give us back the ability to help ourselves.
But it comes with one huge caveat that we often choose to ignore:
We won’t always like it.
Often things have to get worse before they get better, sometimes the answer we want to hear is not the answer we get. When we ask for help, we have a vision in mind of how things will turn out.
Usually it’s “our way”. That’s not always the case.
We will all need other’s help throughout our lives, so it’s worth getting our heads straight now on how it works.
Help or Validation?
Have you ever been asked for help or advice, given your thoughtful reasoned answer… and then had it thrown back in your face? “But what about this?” / “Have you considered that?” / “Wouldn't it be better to do it this way instead?”
And you think to yourself — “Hang on, if you’re just going to argue with my advice, why ask me in the first place? If you’re so sure of what you want to do, just go and do it!”
