The problem is, in a capitalist society, there will always be self-interested people with the power to push forward the idea that the best plan is always make more money and "let the market sort it out". And if society collapses, they will just head to their luxury bunkers in New Zealand. But they can never answer the next logical questions which is... "What happens after that?"
