Bullying Must Be Called Out. Every Time.

We’ve all seen or experienced bullying. In the playground, workplace, socially.

I was bullied at school. I probably was being bullied later in life, but at the time I filed it under “it’s horrible at work”.

I witnessed bullying of others in my first job. I didn’t do enough. I could have raised it with management. Instead, I left it to the people being bullied. They chose not to.

Here’s the problem. Calling out bullying always costs. In the playground, you tell the teacher, but things can worsen before they improve, because you’re branded a snitch.

At work, there’s so much to lose. Say you’re in a high profile organisation and the bully is “the star”. And this is your shot. Are you going to call it?

We must find a way to make sure bullying gets called out. Every time.
