Do Something Just For The Fun Of It

Plan to be unproductive for once

“Research-Do-Learn-Repeat” is the basis of pretty much every productivity technique you’ll find. It works, and it’s addictive, in a good way. We get hooked on progress and chase it relentlessly.

Sometimes, it’s all a bit too much. We can get caught in the whirlpool of wanting to do well.

At that point it’s worth remembering that life’s meant to be fun too, right? The pleasure that comes from joy is different from the satisfaction of productivity.

For the the last few weeks I’ve been brewing a beer for a friend, that is the result of an in-joke. It’s ridiculously strong, tastes unique and we have 20 litres of it bottled now! But the laughs it has brought both of us already (and will continue to bring) makes it worth every minute.
