Even When You Have Time For Nothing Else, Write
It is powerful, it is positive
I’ve been loving the recent articles by Chris Duarte where he is exploding with joy at what daily writing (and reading) has given him. It’s not just his writing, reads and follower numbers that have improved, it’s his life.
That’s the power of writing. And it’s also the power of finding something you love to do.
My best friend is a writer — he’s published over 100 books. I remember him telling me he doesn’t write because he wants to (although he loves it)…
…he writes because he has to.
For him, writing is as essential to his wellbeing as breathing and eating. If he wasn’t doing it professionally, he’d be writing a diary or just doodling with words in his work notebook — somehow words would be coming out of him.
Let It Out
Expression is such a huge part of staying mentally healthy. For some of us — Chris, my best friend and myself included— writing is our way. What’s yours? It could be singing, dancing, podcasting, art, craft, anything.
And if you read that last bit and think “Oh, hang on, I don’t think I do have an expressive outlet”, then I would encourage you to find one.
