How To Properly Mess Things Up
And emerge with at least some of your dignity
Failure isn’t really discussed on this platform, is it? We’re too busy reading how to make our lives amazing, or telling other people how to do it.
Well, this article will probaly be a failure — it’s likely that less than 10 people will read it.
It doesn’t have a headline that draws people in. It’s not making people feel worse so it can attempt to make them feel better two-thirds of the way through.
It’s not a listicle, and it’s not alluding to some “secret” (that eventually turns out to be common sense).
People don’t like to dwell on the negative like this. They’d rather be reading about the law of attraction or narcissism or how to make it to 100 followers.
It’s an article about failure that will, itself, be a failure. Nice symmetry!
But the thing is, I write for two people. For me, and for you. When I’m passing on advice, you know it’s “for real” because I’m actually writing to myself.
This article will be therapeutic for me.
It’s about making a mistake and learning from it.
