I Am Absolutely Sick of People Not replying
A rant against the most annoying habit in business
I run two little companies on my own.
One is quite traditional and provides a service that many other companies do. It’s doing well and growing organically. The quality of our work is good and word is spreading.
The other company came out of the first, via a Research & Development project that yielded an idea, which became an invention, then a prototype and now a proper product with paying customers.
It’s cutting edge tech and does something people haven’t seen before or can’t quite believe is possible.
People keep telling me how it’s “like magic” and has vast potential across many sectors.
And yet… the amount of difficulty I am having gaining commercial traction for it (i.e. moving people from interested in it to becoming paying customers) is significant.
This is nothing new, and actually, nothing to worry about. Companies have struggled with this exact problem forever.
People say they want to try new things but are actually incredibly risk averse. Early adopters are hard to find because no-one wants to “go first” and look silly if it doesn’t work out.
