I think it’s worth highlighting the other side of the argument here. As a writer, especially when you are starting out and trying to maintain momentum, it’s hard to get your head (and writing)around all of the wildly varying submission styles different publications want. It’s also frustrating when you see articles published on publications which don’t seem to match the submission guidelines. Often these articles seem to be written by authors with huge followings, so it can sometimes feel like it’s one rule for some, other rules for others.
