In that the new boyfriend realised that your husband was a mate (or a mate of a mate) of their new girlfriend so was somehow trying to people-please him. With blokes this can be a dangerous game because often you end up going more laddy (more sport, more beer, more "banter") because that's what you assume a bloke you don't know will respond to.
