Ideas Are The Most Valuable Commodity

Everything springs from creativity

Think of the most boring, practical thing. For example, the sewer pipe under your house. That’s not exciting, it’s not cool, it’s not something you’d post on Insta as you pout in the foreground.

But thousands of years ago, coming up with the idea of a wastewater system would have been the most awesome thing ever.

There are neolithic settlements on the Scottish island of Orkney where there’s archeological evidence of a crude flushing toilet from around 5000 years ago. Someone had the idea. That’s the crucial part.

Nothing happens without ideas. They should be the most valuable commodity on earth.

Why am I thinking of ideas today? It’s my kid’s birthday, and honestly, it could have been mine from 35 years ago. Star Wars. Lego. Soccer cards.

Good ideas last a long time.
