Inspiration Can Come From Anywhere
But you have to let it in
Consciously or subconsciously we all aim to make our lives a little easier every day. More efficient, less stressful, less busy. We chip away at the things that annoy us and end up in a place where we are comfortable.
But… completely un-challenged.
We get to pick what we watch and listen to (that entertains and informs us) at levels of detail previously impossible. It’s too easy to create an echo chamber.
And, worse, by making our lives routine, and lessening our interactions with anything unexpected, we cut off opportunities for inspiration to find us.
A few months ago my neighbour handed me a book, self-published by a friend of theirs who trekked in Nepal, for charity, aged 75. An unexpected, but welcome source of inspiration. I’m glad I let it in to my comfortable life.
