Instead Of Expressing Anger, Ask For Help
Train yourself to reach out, not lash out
“Physician, heal thyself” is an ancient proverb. It’s far easier to tell others where they’re going wrong, than spot and address our own failings.
When you’re a parent, you find yourself expecting and insisting on behaviours from your kids that, if you’re honest, you yourself don’t do.
Ask for help, before you get angry.
Great advice. Do we, the adults, follow it?
Prevention is better than cure. Once anger is out there, it has its effects, and they take time and patience to address. Anger is an expression. There is stuff in there that needs to come out. I’m not advocating bottling up feelings.
But asking for help is a better, slower, more controlled, more useful expression of the frustration within us, compared to a heated outburst.
