It Feels Strange Getting Back Out There
The old normal now feels weirder than the new normal
I’m about to take my kids to sports practice — the first session possible after a level of restrictions were lifted in Wales, UK.
All these things we have been craving — a change of scene from our four walls and ten streets, being around people, getting back to “normal” … they now feel, well, a little scary.
Humans have an incredible ability to adapt. That’s why, when COVID first hit, once an initial panic about a zombie apocalypse style world-ending event had passed (helped and hindered equally by a week of constant news and booze) I thought — we’ll be OK. We’ll just live differently.
And we have. It’s had its ups and downs. But normal life has that too.
So, getting back out there will feel strange. But we’ll all be fine.
