I've used YouTube to teach me loads of lifey things like changing a bike tyre but for some reason had never thought about learning high level academic subjects. But of course, it makes perfect sense, people who are passionate about their subject make great teachers. Good on you for proactively finding a way when the course didn't give you what you need.
