Lane, this is brilliant and I agree with every word. I tell people I don't want gifts and they don't believe me and/or ignore me. One thing I have made a little progress with is asking people to give me charity gifts - donations to a charity - and they have and fun on that theme. e.g. you like football so I bought some sports kit for this charity that provides sports kit in refugee camps.
