Make Something Today
I read a brilliant article about mood and resignation yesterday (thanks Deanne Duncombe). It hit me because it summed up where I was at that precise moment — in a low.
The idea of noticing, accepting and working with that mood, helped. I turned to one of my more healthy coping mechanisms.
Making things. Doing stuff. Creating.
I completed a work task I’d been putting off. I did a brew (beer, not coffee — it takes hours but is very therapeautic) and, I wrote. I even started a publication (good luck everyone.)
It was a late night. I’m tired, but that’s OK.
When you see something that didn’t exist before, existing, due to your efforts — it counts, it is undeniably ‘there’. An article, a cake, a letter, a list, a job application, a tidier shelf.
It doesn’t need to be big, just make it happen.
