Money Does Not Equal Success

There’s a disconnect between who we say we are… and who we really are.

You see it here, starkly, on Medium. Article after article telling us how to be better people — open, grateful, and giving. It’s all lovely on the surface.

But behind it, if we’re honest, the motivation is often money. The writer is using a positive subject for popularity — whether their advice does any good is a secondary consideration.

Then there’s the brazen: “How I made x in y by doing z”. Money sells.

I am not innocent.

We say we want to be good and help others. We say we want to address the world’s problems. That would be success.

But what do we do?

We chase money. We look at others who have money and think — that’s success. And the whole cycle repeats. It’s broken.
