No-One Is As Together As You Think They Are
So stop comparing yourself to a perfection that doesn’t exist
Last night I had the most enjoyable, down-to-earth, relaxed and real evening out with a couple of new friends I barely knew.
Of course, after an evening of chat and laughs over burgers and beer, I know them a bit better now.
It was very different to what a night out would have been like in our twenties, probably even our thirties. Then there would have been a lot more pressure to conform to what a night out “should” be for 3 guys.
We probably would have matched each other drink for drink, no-one would have wanted to be the first to call time on the evening and we’d have ended up at some late night bar or club spending money, time and brain cells we didn’t need to.
Last night was different.
We sat outside, because 2 out of the 3 of us were worried about Covid (especially given the stag-do getting more and more raucous inside the pub).
All 3 of us had things to do the next day — a long drive, an extra work shift and just the desire to be a present and useful parent.
So, we took it easy. We drank low strength beer, had some food, and just had a laid back chat.
