Re-branding Boredom

There’s a lack of patience in the world and in our own heads. If we don’t feel busy, or needed, or valued, or praised we start to feel as if we don’t exist.

Like Marty Mcfly in ‘Back To The Future’ looking down at his own hand slowly disappearing (as his mission to get his future parents to meet and fall in love looks like failing).

Everyone else seems urgent and vital and irreplaceable. But you feel bored — there’s nothing useful for you to do. You’re useless, literally.

But, think again.

Isn’t boredom just patient perseverance? Every great acheivement has many ‘engine room’ days between inspiration and delivery. You’re working on something at the moment, even if you don’t realise.

There are days when you just need to churn out life. And not throw everything up in the air. Keep plugging away.
