Sleep Conquers All

I spend a lot of time reading about self-improvement and writing about it too. If I had to give one, and only one, piece of advice to anyone wanting to improve anything in their life, it would be this:

Get enough sleep

Sleep is magical, it gives your body and brain time to recover, strengthen and make sense of the world.

Also — and I know this sounds awful — when we’re asleep we can’t make anything worse. We can’t make unhelpful choices or actions. We’re out of the game and our body, and nature, take over.

Here are some simple actions to improve your sleep:

  • Don’t take your phone to bed, leave it another room (use an old-skool alarm clock)
  • Set a bedtime and stick to it
  • Read as the last thing you do before you go to sleep
