The Great Christmas (Tree) Debate: Artificial vs Real

There’s a bit of needle in this argument…

My partner and I agree on lots of things. But our Christmas tree is not one of them, haha!

I’m an artificial guy. (Not literally, I exist, I’m human).

My partner prefers real-life natural.

Let’s examine the evidence, and then use that as a springboard to talk all things Christmas and how to do it “right”…

The Case For Real

  • that lovely pine-y smell
  • the ritual of going to get it
  • different every year, with its own quirks
  • decorating it in a way that “fits” its character (is this a thing?!)
  • can be recycled, not more plastic for landfill one day

The Case For Artificial

  • more cost-effective
  • no pine needles all over the floor
  • very easy to go and get (it’s in a bag in the garage)
  • visually consistent (no random overly bare or bushy bits)
  • can be re-used year after year
