The Routine Now Feels Special
It’s true — we don’t know what we’ve got ’til it’s gone
Today I travel across the border from Wales to England to see my family. For the first time in many months the restrictions allow it. We’ll meet outside in the sunshine with takeaway coffees.
Such simple pleasures!
This trip would have been routine pre-pandemic. I’d have enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t have savoured it. I will today.
Our collective experience of the last year and a bit has been an exercise in proving right all those sayings / truisms / clichés that bored us over the years.
“You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone”
That one is top of the pile. We lost basic freedoms and only now do we understand how special they are and what joy they can bring.
The best news? They’re not gone. They’re coming back…
