The biggest news story in the UK today is a Sports story. Six English Premier League football clubs have agreed to join a European Super League from which they could never be relegated.
Relegation means that if you play badly enough and finish in the bottom 3 at the end of the season, you get demoted to the league below. It means sport is still about how well you play, not just how much money you have.
Football (soccer) in the UK is rooted in the working classes but has grown into a commercial behemoth.
It’s alright for money to be part of football but not the whole point of it. I’d say the same in life, it’s OK for money to be part of your motivation, but not the whole.
