The Three Pillars Of A Great Presentation
Hit these basics and you’re good
If you’re pitching a project, idea, or product to another person or organisation, chances are you’ll need to give a presentation. Let’s not get into the technicals too much, just the core principles.
Always think of your audience — what do you want them to get out of your deck / video / talk (it doesn’t need to be a powerpoint…)
With the audience constantly in your mind, make sure you’re hitting these core markers:
Tone
It may be the 43rd time you’ve delivered this presentation but it’s the first time the audience are hearing it.
If you want them to be engaged, interested, and impressed with the freshness and energy… then you have to bring those attributes.
Don’t present anything you don’t believe in. People clock inauthenticity a mile off. Seriously — if there is stuff in there you don’t like or agree with, do what you need to do to address that before you start presenting to others.
Be careful with a self-deprecating tone. This can work with people that know you well and can see the humour.
But in a totally new environment, with people you haven’t met, you can bring a downer vibe to the fore unintentionally.
