The Unexpected Way To Deal With Feeling Down

We can read all the self-help in the world (and this platform has it all) but sometimes, even though we have the knowledge on what should make us feel better, we just don’t feel it.

Heart is stronger than head, and, like the times when you know you should want something (a relationship, job, or career move) but you just don’t, no amount of rationalizing can shift the instinct.

When things feel like that, try going down a level. Move away from surface words, activities and processes and go simpler and deeper — find a “way of being” that works for you.

Rely on it, be reassured by it, and build from it.

This technique is powerful, but hard to pin down. In the last few days I have been reminded of its positive impact in my own life. Let me explain…

Our lives are built on rhythms and structures, some of them created by “the world” (the structure of the week for example, 5 weekdays then a weekend) and some created by us as individuals (what time we get up, what we have for Breakfast).
