This is a key point. People think introverts don't ever want to be around anyone else ever, but that misses the point. I don't know whether I'm an introvert, perhaps I'm an ambivert (never came across that word until this article!) but I prefer interactions with others that aren't just superficial. Extroverts take energy from being around people, making small talk, "working the room", that just feels like a waste of time to me when I could be doing something useful. Of course, the counterpoint to that is that by being around people more that gives opportunities for connections to form that could be vital in doing something useful on a grerater scale.
