We All Need Someone To Teach Us

And we can all teach someone else

Knowledge flows like water. In fact the analogy of water works quite well with knowledge in a whole load of ways.

Information can seep into us slowly if we put ourselves in its presence repeatedly enough, like walking in the rain without a coat and your clothes end up sodden.

We often speak of having a thirst for knowledge.

And if you imagine the amount of information out there as being as vast as the ocean, then it gives you an idea of how ridiculous it is to think that anyone could ever know everything.

That, in turn should knock any know-it-all arrogance out of any of us.

Wanting To Learn

We are forced to learn, and to be taught, in our younger years. And we get so much formal education (years at school, then perhaps university and even post-graduate studies) that, understandably, we end up sick of it.

“Stop telling me what to do and let me carve my own path.”

I wrote that quote to capture the spirit of someone in their late teens or early twenties, but, to be honest, I’ve felt like that my whole life. And still do.
