When We Can, We Must Adventure

It’s hard to escape our own world view. How can other people not see things how we see them? How they really are?

Of course, things aren’t really like that.

Things aren’t really like anything (OK, that’s a sentence I never thought I’d write). Why? Because no-one has the objective overview. Everyone has lenses, biases, or rivers of thinking they can’t escape (and don’t know they’re in).

Many are in lockdown at the moment. Even that’s wrong, because if you’re in New Zealand, you’re thinking, “Nope. All fine here.”

One way to avoid disappearing deeper into our personal world view is to experience difference. Get to know new people. Visit different places. Explore thinking that varies from your own.

It’s harder at the moment. So once we can, we should — explore, adventure and diversify — in every area of our lives.
