Will You Ever Have Enough?

We know where to draw the line. When we’ve had one beer too many. When the argument has gone on too long. When the relationship has run its course.

But it’s hard to imagine anyone saying, “That’s enough money for me. I wouldn’t take it even if you offered it.”

Money seems to be where normal rules don’t apply. All’s fair in love and war. And business?

During my time at a big company I clashed with one team member who I managed. In an effort to find an explanation, I asked them to define their role and describe what they saw their job to be:

“To make as much money as possible.”

No mention of the company’s goals or strategy or their own specific job.

At the time it annoyed me, now I just find it fascinating.

So how much is enough?
