You Need Time Away From What You Love Doing

Yes, you can have too much of a good thing

Find your passion and you’ll never work a day in your life. That’s the theory. Well, yes, it won’t feel like work, but it will still be work.

You’ll still be concentrating, expending time, mental and emotional (and perhaps physical) effort doing it.

And you need a break from it. Yes, even from the thing you love to do.

Doing nothing, having the time and space to listen (and respond) to the needs and wants of your loved ones, your own brain and body — that is a luxury we all need to give ourselves.

So, as you, dear reader, move your eyes across this page (and I very much thank you for doing so) I will be away on a break. Just for 3 days and 3 nights.

I won’t have my laptop with me. My phone will be off. I will be in a new place I haven’t visited, with my partner and I can’t wait to ask this question:

“So, what shall we do?”

I’m looking forward to exploring, not organising. Letting time run away instead of trying to cram it into a smaller box than it wants to go in.

I’m looking forward to being bored. Remember what that feels like?
